Dental Technology and Local Specialists
Dr. Cynthia Elderkin provides high-quality restorative dental care using advanced technology and trusted local resources. She partners with skilled dental labs in the Raleigh area to ensure that every porcelain crown, bridge, veneer, or implant restoration is precisely crafted to fit comfortably and look natural. She creates custom restorations from durable materials like porcelain and titanium.
Dr. Elderkin uses the latest dental technology to help her patients get the best results. Digital X-rays give her clear pictures of your teeth with very low radiation. This helps her find dental problems early and plan the right treatment. She also uses digital dental impressions in her Raleigh office instead of old-fashioned, messy molds. These digital scans create detailed 3D images of your teeth and gums. This makes the process more comfortable for you and helps make sure your dental restorations fit just right.
Benefits of Restorative Dental Care
Restorative dental care can improve your oral health, make your smile look better, and help you feel more confident every day. If you have missing, damaged, or worn-down teeth, restorative treatments can help fix these problems and give you back a healthy, comfortable smile. With restorative care, we can provide replacement missing teeth, TMJ treatment, periodontal treatment, and tooth repair in Raleigh.
The benefits of our restorative services include:
- Stronger Teeth: Restorative treatments like crowns make weak or damaged teeth stronger. Restoring missing teeth with implants can also help you bite and chew.
- Better Appearance: We use natural-looking materials that blend in with your other teeth. Treatments like crowns, bridges, and dental implants are designed to look just like teeth. Porcelain and composite match the sheen of natural tooth enamel.
- Improved Oral Health: Fixing broken teeth, treating gum disease, or replacing missing teeth helps keep your mouth healthy. These treatments also make it easier to clean your teeth and gums. When you’re in better dental health you can care for your teeth and gums and prevent bigger dental problems in the future.
- Comfort: Missing and damaged teeth can make it hurt to eat or talk. Restorative care helps relieve pain and make your bite feel normal again. TMJ treatment and gum therapy can also ease jaw pain, headaches, and gum discomfort.
- Long-Lasting Results We use high-quality materials and modern techniques, so your dental restorations last for many years. With good care, they can stay strong and look great.

Restorative Dentistry
Restorative dentistry is a type of dental care that focuses on repairing and restoring damaged or missing teeth. The goal is to bring back the health, function, and appearance of your teeth so you can smile and eat comfortably.
Our restorative dentistry treatments in Raleigh, NC, include dental bridges, crowns, implants, dentures, and more.
Dental Bridge
This restoration can “bridge the gap” left by one or more consecutive missing teeth. Dental bridges are fixed restorations that can use dental implants or crown-capped adjacent natural teeth for support. It offers an excellent solution for replacing missing teeth, especially when the missing teeth are next to each other. A dental bridge cannot be removed like dentures.
Tooth Crowns
A dental crown can fully cover and protect a tooth like a cap. Crowns can add strength to worn and damaged teeth. We can also provide dental crowns for patients after root canal treatment to ensure that they have a balanced bite. Our office can create tooth-colored crowns to fix damaged teeth and create an even and comfortable bite.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are one of the most effective dental restorations for patients with lost permanent teeth. A single dental implant consists of a metal post, abutment, and dental crown. Oral surgeons place implants in the jaw bone. They can replace single missing teeth or secure restorations for multiple lost teeth.
Full and Partial Dentures
We recommend dentures and partials for patients with rows or full arches of missing teeth. Partial dentures restore rows of lost teeth. Complete dentures can replace an upper and/or lower row of teeth. While traditional bridges are removable, we recommend implants to support dentures.
TMJ Treatment
Jaw injuries or stress to the joints cause temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD). Patients with TMD often experience headaches, toothaches, jaw pain, and bruxism (teeth clenching and grinding). We provide TMJ treatment for patients with custom night guards and Botox.
Night guards reduce pressure on the teeth, jaw, and TMJ. They can prevent further tooth wear and help minimize headaches and migraines. Dr. Giggey can also inject Botox® into targeted areas of the face to relieve TMJ headaches and orofacial pain.
Gum Disease Treatment
Periodontitis, or gum disease, is a gradual infection that breaks down the gum tissue. Over time, patients with gum disease experience swollen gum tissue, gum recession, and loose teeth.
We offer periodontal disease treatments like antibacterial rinses and deep cleaning treatments. Scaling and root planing will remove the harmful bacteria that leads to gum disease.
Restorative Dental Care FAQs
We welcome patients to learn more with answers to common questions about restorative dentistry treatments in our Raleigh, NC, dental office.
Are partial dentures like dental bridges?
Both partial dentures and dental bridges can restore multiple missing teeth. However, partial dentures can replace multiple missing teeth in different parts of the mouth. Bridges are a better option for patients missing one or two consecutive teeth.
Do I have gum disease if my gums bleed?
Bleeding gums can happen for a few different reasons. Sometimes, your gums may bleed if you brush your teeth too hard or use a toothbrush with very stiff bristles. If this is the case, the bleeding usually stops when you start to brush more gently and use a soft-bristled toothbrush.
However, bleeding gums can also be a sign of a bigger problem, like gum disease. If you don’t remove plaque with regular brushing and flossing, it can cause your gums to become red, swollen, and irritated. This irritation can make your gums bleed.
What are the main causes of TMD?
Some of the most common causes of TMD include:
- Chronic teeth clenching and grinding
- Strain and stress on the TMJ
- Trauma to the head, neck, or jaw
Please call our office if you have any of these problems or changes in the comfort of your teeth, bite, or jaw joints. We provide comprehensive TMJ treatment that includes custom night guards.
